* Enter the Alhambra through the Muslim gate Puerta Justicia (Gate of Justice) built in 1348.
* Access the Alcazaba (fort) started in 1238 - built on 9th century Jewish fort ruins.
* Climb the steps to the Torre de la Vela (Watchtower) for some magnificent views of the city and the fertile plain (Vega) beyond.

* Explore the once sumptuous but now ruins of the Baño de la Mesquita (Arab bath) located beside the Iglesia de Santa Maria
* Enter the highlight of the Alhambra . . .
the Nazrid Palaces of the Sultans (1302 to 1390) including, among other spaces, the Court yard of the Myrtles with the Comares Tower, Ambassadors Hall, the Patio of the Lions and the Partal
* Finally pass through the temporary living quarters built for Carlos V and go down the steps to the Partal, the oldest remaining palace of the Sultans (1302) and walk up the water channeled steps to enjoy gardens and pools surrounded by foundations of other Muslim palaces of the Alhambra now lost to the elements and neglect.
* Pass behind the Carlos V Palace in front of the Iglesia de Santa Maria de la Alhambra (Church of Santa Maria of the Alhambra) The original location of the Mosque of the Alhambra.
* Walk along the Towers Walk behind the Carlos V Palace and exit the
Alhambra walls across the bridge to the Generalife Gardens once a
working summer estate and escape for the Sultans
* Enjoy the exotic gardens of sweet smelling species, roses, lavender, bay, allyssum. All originally used by the Muslim gardeners. See Giant Sequoia trees in the upper Rennaisance gardens
* Re-cross the bridge and return to the Alhambra. Pass the Medina and stroll along a carved cyprus path and view the Parador of San Fransico origanally a Muslim palace, later the Convent of San Francisco, also the original burial place of the Monarchs-Queen Isabel and King Fernando.
