MADRID MAN visited Granada and toured with us last year:
http://madridman.com/blog-madrid/2008/04/
"I took two tours in Granada. One, Granada Picnic Tours, Anne, an American woman from Kansas, took a small group of us around the
Alhambra, spending roughly 4 hours with us, and giving us all the details about the Alhambra in a very casual, familiar manner. It was a
wonderful success and I enjoyed it a lot."
"Can ANYONE say enough about the City of Granada? Talk about the epitome of the phrase "Enchanted City"! It has everything, and
all without the confines of what feels like a village.
Of course, anyone visiting Granada MUST SEE the Alhambra. That really goes without saying but lots of people, including many
Spaniards, believe they can "just show up" and see it - but you really can't. You can, if you're lucky, AND if you're willing to spend hours
upon hours waiting in line for the few remaining tickets that MIGHT be available. Pre-ordering/reserving Alhambra tickets online is a
MUST DO these days. And even with that you'll have a long-ish line to COLLECT the actual ticket at the ticket office. I saw people
which must have been waiting in line for almost an hour just to get their pre-ordered tickets."

We booked Anne at Granada Picnic Tours for a full day tour of Alhambra and Granada city. She was very
knowledgeable and our full day tour turned into 2 half day tours due to a change in our schedule. Anne was very
flexible and also very thoughtful. I was traveling with my friend who is handicapped and Anne went out of her way
to find the easiest way for my friend to see Alhambra and the Albayzin which has all those steep hills and cobble
stone streets. I would recommend using Anne!

Incredible....especially with a private tour!

The Alhambra is one of the most amazing places in the world. Using a private guide enhances the experience
tremendously as you can enjoy it at your own pace and are not herded with a bus load of other tourists. Anne from
Granada Picnic Tours was great--her knowledge of Alhambra, the history, the architecture, the art, the countryside,
were incredible. (www.granadapicnictours.com)

Private Tour of The Alhambra in Granada
June 30, 2009 Dreemtm, Los Angeles
The Alhambra is a remarkable place and seeing it with Anne Gangemi ( www.granadapicnictours.com) as our tour
guide made it all come alive. Anne is from America, and the tours are private, you can visit this remarkable place at
your own pace and ask as many questions as you like. I would definitely recommend Anne as a tour guide!

Private Alhambra tour

This is a huge monument, wear good shoes and take your camera. We had a wonderful visit to the Alhambra
monument with a private guide. (www.granadapicnictours.com) This is a huge monument, wear good shoes and take
your camera. It was only our family so we stopped to rest and have a snack when we wanted to. We watched other
tour groups 15 to 30 people herded through like cattle. Go in the afternoon if possible when it isn't so crowded.
Anne knew everything, history, architecture even the names of all trees, shrubs and flowers. This was one of the
best tours we took in Europe.

A long tour of the grounds including the Palacio Carlos V, the Alcazaba, the Alhambra and the Generalife were the
focus and highlight of our visit to Granada. Two suggestions to help prepare for the trip are to read Washington
Irving's "Tales of the Alhambra" and to book a tour through www.granadapicnictours.com
A digital camera is recommended - there is much to shoot - and extra batteries. Having gone this winter, I can tell
you it's always a tough ticket to get (though not overrun with visitors because it is well managed) but still gorgeous
even in December. Bring a few euros for an Alhambra beer in the Plaza de los Aljibes!

“Alhambra, Granada Spain Private Tour

We just returned from our 12 day trip to Spain. We visited many areas, Granada being one of them. We loved
Granada although it was HOT in July. We survived the heat on our walking tour with Granada Picnic Tours as Anne
sought out shade whenever possible. We are from California, USA and used to very HOT weather but we are not
typcially walking in it all day.
Anne met us promptly at our hotel which she had also reccomended to us. We took the full day Granada and
Alhambra tour. Anne worked at our pace as we had a 6 year old with us. She engaged Maddy, pointing out things
that Maddy would understand and enjoy along the way. We stopped for drinks and icecream. Anne was very
knowledgable and you can tell they really love the city. She was very knowledgable about the history and people in
the area. We stopped at little novelty shops and spice markets. She went at our pace which was "meandering" which
we appreciated. We have been on many tours with big groups where we had no time to appreciate the feel of the
city and she gave us this luxury.
We wanted some facts but not to get info overload and Anne did well with our quirky request. I think the Alhambra
would be difficult to navigate and really get the full picture if you did not have some kind of tour guide with you. It
was large and it would be very difficult t know what you are looking at and appreciate the history behind it with out
someone to help you.
The Alhambra is truly amazing and if you can avoid going in the summer you will love it even more. This was the
first time we got a private guide and we most likely will never do a large tour group again, this was so much more
relaxing. I would rather see fewer sites but really "absorb" those sites. I see more in the future.

I booked the Deluxe full day tour of Granada which included our tickets to the Alhambra. , lunch, transportation, and
treats along the way for my children. I set our tour up about 10 months in advance for myself and my 10 and 15
year old children. This was our first trip to Spain, we know very little Spanish, and I had read about Granada and
wanted to make the most of a two day drive up there from our base in Marbella (about a 2.5 hour car ride). Our tour
with Anne achieved this as in a day she showed us the highlights of Granada. Anne arrived at 10:00AM sharp and
met us in the lobby. We started out on foot to see the Cathedral open air spice market where I bought spices and
teas which we are enjoying now at home. The Arab, and souk markets were just opening for the day, and later that
evening I went back there on my own to shop , since they were easily with in walking distance from the hotel. Anne
escorted us to various plaza's I had read about and gave us the pertinent historical points. What was nice was the
ability to customize the tour, ask questions, and of course as an American Traveler there was no language issues
which took the stress out of our trip. We used public transportation and we walked through the Albayzin area, and
because I had mentioned to her that my 10 year old son was looking for churros, we stopped at a local eatery in the
neighborhood for churros and chocolate, something I am sure we could not have done with a large tour group. I also
asked her about the Fahzulli Family pottery shop which I had seen a video on Y-Tube ( I love pottery) and she took
us over the the shop where we watched the family pottery making. I also purchased several pieces and wish I could
have carred more back to the states as the glaze and detail on the pieces I purchased are beautiful. We stopped at
a small eatery in the Arab market for chicken wraps and the best lemonade with fresh spearmint I have ever tasted.
We spent the entire afternoon touring the Alhambra. Again, a spectacular site not to miss. She gave our family
wonderful information and again, the ability for one on one interaction and discussion makes her tours unique. We
stopped for ice pops for the kids and rested as needed. Out tour ended about 5:30PM as she escorted us back to
our hotel location. I am certain I would never have been able to find and see as much as I did on my own, and
again the comfort of letting someone else lead us around took the stress off of us as much of our prior travels
along the Costa Del Sol were on our own ( I also forgot to mention she also took us to an ancient Bath House along
the way).. We corresponded totally by e-mail, paid by Pay pal, her responses were always prompt . , she even e-
mailed me driving directions, and customized the day to our interests. Wear comfortable walking shoes, and pack
lightly. You will not be disappointed in her tour. It is highly recommended.
